In a historic move for 2026, Progressive Insurance has been ordered to refund nearly $1 billion to approximately 2.7 million drivers. This massive payout, driven by Florida’s “Excess Profit Law,” aims to return surplus premiums accumulated over the last three years directly to policyholders.
If you were an active Progressive customer in Florida as of December 31, 2025, you are likely eligible for a credit or check averaging $300 per vehicle. This refund is a direct result of 2023 insurance reforms that stabilized the market and limited the profit margins insurers can legally retain.
How to Receive Your Refund
The distribution process is set to begin in early 2026. Eligible customers do not need to file a formal class action claim in most cases, as the credits are applied automatically:
- Active Policies: Credits will be applied to your next renewal or outstanding balance.
- Paid-in-Full Policies: A check or electronic payment (PayPal/Zelle) will be issued to the last payment source on file.
- Notifications: Progressive is expected to notify all eligible drivers by the end of February 2026.
